Grand Opening!

In Uncategorized on August 17, 2009 at 1:02 am

Hey there, Public!

We’re Local Commotion, a group of twenty-somethings looking to bring a more fun, creative, and interesting vibe to eastern Monmouth County through cool events.

Like Oktoberfest, our first official event, on October 10 in Asbury Park. If you’re twentysomething, have a knack for competitive drinking games, like hearing good local bands, and are bored of $4 beers in Red Bank, this is the event for you.

More info to come, but mark on your Google calendars now!

15 Minutes of Local Fame, Casting Call

In Uncategorized on August 12, 2009 at 8:57 pm

Remember when you took that film course in college and decided to be a Hollywood director? Yeah, our dreams didn’t pan out either.

But here’s our chance at redemption!

Michael Altino over at Red Bank Films is heading up a community film project, where the group writes, casts, directs, acts, and afterparties just like they do in Tinsel Town.

We’ll post more info as it becomes available, but if you’re already interested, shoot Local Commotion an email and we’lll hook you up.

Legendary! But Pricey, too

For the richest among us (those not currently living in our parents’ basements), John Legend is playing at Count Basie tonight. We don’t really know any of his hits, but he always seems to be singing soulfully for 30 seconds after The Hills ends on MTV. I mean, if MTV says it’s cool, we’ve got to endorse this as a fun midweek activity.

For the poor among us, how about a John Not-So-Legend night with our good friend John the bartender at Walt Street Pub?
